It's been more like winter the last few days here in Wisconsin than it has been pretty much all winter. A few days ago we had a big storm with nasty, wet, heavy, slushy, sloppy snow because it was fairly warm. Since then it's grown colder and the extra snow we've gotten has been the light and fluffy kind. There has been some absolutely gorgeous scenery in all of this, the kind where the trees are either shimmery with a frosty coating, or just plain ol' glorious in their struggle to hold piles of white snow on all of their bare branches. And now this morning we've added a new beauty to it all . . . sunny fog.
I was out early this morning, quick trip to town to get a much needed oil change done on my car. As I was coming home, the sun was coming out more and more, determined to win this battle over the fog. There were sooooo many beautiful photo opportunities, but of course I didn't have my camera. When I finally got home and parked my car, my view out my windshield was almost surreal with the fog and the sun and the frosty and sparkly snow. I ran and grabbed my camera and just started snapping pictures.
From the back porch, looking northeast across our backyard.
Our neglected greenhouse in an almost mystical setting.
Looking southeast across our backyard. There will be flowers all along that 'weedline' this spring/summer.
Looking south across our backyard.
Our garden beds and, farther back, burn pile . . . looking oddly lovely masked in snow.
Looking west, towards the front of our property and the driveway, now hidden in snow.
An interesting shot, showing the snowy coating that's making everything so sparkly right now.
Sometimes it's the simplest things that bring us great joy. Don't you agree?

ReplyDeleteThanks, ladies!
ReplyDeleteJean - I think my favorite is the second one (or possibly the third). I reminds me of China or Japan for some reason . . . LOL I don't know, I just love how they look.
Heather - Yeah, it's been VERY mild this winter. We can't complain too much!

Lovely pics, Deb!
ReplyDeleteOur winter has been exceptionally mild also; but I'm complaining since winter is my favorite season ;)
oooh gorgeous photos! So envious of your home :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa, these are so awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird looking at them now, from only what, ten days ago?, now that we're in the middle of "summer" all of a sudden.
I totally get the China/Japan you're getting with that greenhouse photo. Too funny!
Summer is right. We hit 83 degrees yesterday and even had to turn the fan on in our bedroom last night. Crazy! We have to keep reminding ourselves that it's still only March, like when we're anxious to get the garden planted, etc.
