Cold Sniff - Scentsationals / Simple Romance

Simple Romance - 'Set the mood with woodsy vanilla.'

I usually don't even bother with these types of scents.  You know, the complex, sophisticated blends.  Just give me simple things I can recognize.  So I was surprised when my first sniff of this caught me off guard and I had to go back for several more sniffs.  It's sort of a sexy man scent.  There is vanilla, and I do get the hint of wood in there, but there is a muskiness or something more to it that keeps me coming back.  I don't melt tarts in the bedroom, but maybe I should start with this one!

(The Cold Sniff series will feature Better Homes & Gardens, and Scentsationals tarts that I'm probably not going to melt myself, whether it be ones I'm buying to send to others or just new ones I notice at my local Walmart.)

  1. Thanks so much for these comprehensive Scentsationals reviews! Wax snobs who purchase via online vendors only are missing out on a good thing! Simple Romance is a comforting woodsy fragrance that I enjoy as well. You might want to try BH&G's Red Wood Pomegranate (warmed fruity wood) or Mainstay's Tahitian Sunset (tropical fruity wood). Right now I'm melting the just-purchased BH&G's Brushed Teakwood Amber. The Amber dials down the intensity of the Teakwood very nicely. FYI I purchased a bunch of new Scentsationals fragrances directly from their web site. None of the scents with the larger photos on the packages make it to my Walmart (Rain, Camelot, Smoked Birch, Dulce de Leche, etc.)!!

    1. I've wanted to place an order from the Scentsationals site many many times but so far I haven't gone through with it. There are so many I want though!

I'm not a fan of woody scents. That's why liking this one is so curious to me. I heard about Brushed Teakwood Amber the other night, but have not seen it at my store.

There are some wax snob out there, for sure. I've been big into the indie vendors for a while but have still loved BH&G/Scentsationals right along with the indie vendor stuff. I don't understand why some people just automatically poo poo 'The Walmart Tarts' just because they are....well....'The Walmart Tarts.' (Although I must admit, I am rather anti-Scentsy so I guess I shouldn't talk. LOL)

  2. Ooo, that sounds like a nice bedroom type scent! The only thing I've really melted specifically for the bedroom are sleepytime or relaxation type scents, and it's been a while since I last did that. Sometimes there being a scent distracts me from falling asleep.

    1. I've tried doing sinus relief ones in the bedroom at night. Once again, the problem for me is no access to outlets where I'd want to place the warmer.

  3. This cold sniff pleasantly surprises me!!! I wish you would have melted two cubes and really gave it a proper go. It is a lovely scent and I am so excited to have it again (already blew through the other one).

    1. I'm thinking of getting a pack for myself. Hubby didn't seem to like it much though.

  4. Bedroom Warmer Bedroom Warmer Bedroom Warmer!

I like to come over here and chant things sometimes ;)

Keep up the great work with the single scent highlight posts. I think I might prefer these over a long list of blend after blend after blend!

  5. Blends get really hard to describe after a while. I think that's why I get bored doing the Melted posts when it's a lot of blends. I quite like these quickie cold sniff posts because it doesn't matter what I melted them in, or how much I melted, etc..

    1. Oh, and I'd really like to put the Yankee Scenterpiece in the bedroom since the scent cups are supposed to last quite a long time. That way I wouldn't have to worry about changing the wax every night. I'm lazy.
