Happy Labor Day! That just sounds weird. Labor Day doesn't strike me as a festive greeting type holiday. Well, summer is 'officially' over now. Any kids that hadn't already gone back to school most likely will be tomorrow. I know the district I live in starts tomorrow.
We didn't do anything holiday-ish here. No cookouts or company or going to any get-togethers. I did go to my mom's, as usual, and we did go to Walmart, as usual. She's getting really fed up and frustrated with my brother now. She says she knows he's not looking for a job because he never goes anywhere. It all just makes me so mad. He's still homeless, living in his truck. I don't know what he expects will happen?! He's doing nothing to help himself and we've all gone as far as we're willing to go.
We had our first bit of drama with hubby's barn project partner today. We're hoping we just misinterpreted the situation, but he seems to be pissed about something. Hubby had texted him a question about something for the barn and got seemingly angry replies. He had stopped by earlier in the day though and seemed fine then, so who knows. I guess hubby will find out tomorrow when they're working together.
We finally got our lovely new faucet installed at our kitchen sink this morning. The old one was leaking pretty bad. Actually I don't think this one is all that lovely. It's probably just because 'Change is bad!' for me that I automatically resist this. LOL The old one just had a regular, lower, straight spout. I do like this higher one because it will be easier to to fill or rinse bigger things, but it just seems so thin and delicate. Bah, whatever, at least the leaky one is gone finally.
I ended up switching back to my old printer today. The fancy-smancy photo printer I got last year is awesome for, well, printing photos but I've found it to be a bit of a pain in the butt to print simple things like coupons or labels. I used to always make address labels for my mom but discovered that with this new printer nothing aligns in the templates. I've tried different times over the months, with no success. I was trying again today because I wanted to make some labels for when I send out card orders. I decided to take the time to really try and figure this out, Googled help info and everything, and got nowhere. Finally, in a fit of rage, I dug my old printer out of the attic and hooked that one back up. The ink is all wonky after sitting for about a year but at least it looks like it will align address labels in the template. Guess I'll let the new printer sit until I need to print photos, or find a way to hook both of them up. And I thought all this technology was supposed to make life easier?!
I posted two more cards in the FB group today!
My first Halloween card of the year. Yay! That's actually a practice background from a while ago that I thought would work when I was trying to decide what to do with these pieces. Everyone that's seen this one seems to really like it.
And this one turned out pretty cute too. I already had the individual pieces and was staring at them today, trying to come up with a way to use them. I don't know if you can tell from the pic but the outer brown frame has a wood grain design to it.
Hurry over to the FB group if you're interested in buying either one!
Speaking of the FB group, and page, I'm not sure I like doing them. It's starting to feel like this is a little more of a business than a hobby. It's starting to be a little overwhelming for me, figuring out what to do on what page, what to do on the Instagram page, and then still share stuff here. It's feeling sort of redundant. I know, I know, give it a chance. I don't know what else I could do to sell the cards though. The audience is so small here when it comes to something like that. I don't know, I'm just not liking how it all feels right now. Any words of wisdom on all this?
Well, I'm back to work tomorrow after a five day break. It does not feel like I've had five days off, that's for sure. It's been quite a crazy time. This week will be crazy too. I'm not on my regular 12-hour shift. I'll be on normal 7am-3pm shifts for the rest of the week, and we're not running production either. We're doing some special projects and cleaning and training around the plant while construction crews work on a new roof. So yeah, this should be interesting.
Okay then, I'm off to read now. And hopefully slow my racing mind, chaotic as it is with all these crazy things going on.
How was your long weekend?
Did you do anything for Labor Day?
