Nov. 1 - Thankful Natters!

November!  Time for Thankful Natters!  I couldn't come up with a name for the November version of Blogtober and Blogmas last year so I just went with Thankful Natters because, well, I tend to natter, and because each post will mention what I'm thankful for that day.  I also had a dilemma last year about the difference between thankful and grateful, and have decided I'm not thinking that deep about this year.  So here we go!

I packed away the Halloween stuff and got out the Thanksgiving stuff today.  I don't have a lot of decorations for Thanksgiving and that's one of the things I've always liked about it.  I did realize today though, that I have plenty of room to add to my pumpkin collection and scatter them around the house, so I will definitely be looking for more next time I'm shopping.

Remember not too long ago I said one of my old tea light wax warmers died?  I showed that pic of the horrible sunken burned spot?  Well, I think there is another issue at play here.  It seems my BHG and/or Scentsationals wax is just not working for me anymore.  I haven't paid enough attention to whether it is BHG or Scentsationals or both, or whether it is new stuff from this year or leftovers from last year or both.  Haha, way to be clueless, huh?  Anyway, I've noticed my 'Walmart wax' acts like it's overheating in my tea light warmers.  The scent takes on a sharp edge, there are dark patches of caramelized something (oils?) on the bottom of the warmer dishes, and the wax does not want to come out of the dishes once cooled, even after the freezer method.  It does this in my old warmers as well as my brand new warmers AND my Glade warmer.
I've had this residue every now and then from various vendors but these incidents I'm speaking of now are different.  It's not just oily residue, it's sticky like glue.  I've had to actually freakin' chisel wax out of one of the warmers.  And again, this isn't like the stubborn ones I get every now and then that just need a little coaxing.  No, these are frikken glued to the dish!

So I stopped melting BHG/Scentsationals for a while and tried indie vendors just to see if the same things happens.  Nope.  They all worked fine.  I went back to BHG/Scentsationals yesterday and they behaved almost normally.  One had a bit of the brown spot and need a bit of prying but nothing like the others had been before.  Weird?!

Well, I'm out of here for tonight.  It was cold again today, and right now it's raining and windy with a chance of snow mixed in overnight.  I'm curious as to what I'll find in the morning.

Today I am thankful for:
Days off. I might whine and complain about my painful 12 hour days but gosh I do love all the days off that weird schedule gets me.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. That is so weird! I remember the few Scentsy cubes I tried always smelled slightly scorched in my electric warmer, but I don't think I ever used them in the candle one.

Today I am thankful for an entertaining World Series :D

    1. I'd started to wonder if they'd tweaked their formula to work better in lower heat warmers like all their fancy light bulb ones. It's been weird though, for sure!

I don't follow baseball but I was glad to hear the Series is finally over. lol I used to be super into baseball back in the early '80s. Not sure why my interest fizzled.
