Melted - BHG / Jamaican Rum Gelato

Jamaican Rum Gelato - [no scent description]

I can't find a scent description for this anywhere, and I really wish I had one!  Although this seems to be part of the spring/summer release, it's a much warmer scent than the usual fruity offerings.  On cold sniff, it's a much creamier scent than what you get when it's warmed.  There is a lot of rum in this, and I think that's what is causing the sort of harsh edge to the warmed version.  It's almost like a coffee-type bitterness.  It's not a sweet rum like Butter Rum Lifesavers either, but more straight rum like the alcohol.  There is still some sweetness and a bit of creaminess from the gelato, and the scent is warm and cozy, but I can see how a lot of people will be turned off by that harsh note.

I melted two cubes (about 0.8 oz. worth) in my tea light warmer and had strong scent that carried well to adjacent rooms.

Although I do enjoy coffee scents and am used to that sort of bitter note, it just does not work for me in this one.  I probably would not buy this one again.  (That cold sniff can be deceiving!)

  1. Ah darn, no good huh? I picked up two of these. One is for my mom to give a go. She loves the smell of coffee roasting so this could work for her though the rum note may throw her off. I need to dive into some of my new BHG and Scentsationals

    1. It's not a horrible scent, and I will use up what I have, but would not buy it again. I never put too much stock into reviews though. I mean, someone else's nose might pick up totally different things than mine, right?

I also think maybe I'm just ready for brighter, fruitier scents, ready to move on from the heavy, warm scents of fall and winter.
